Religious Conservatives Cheer Ruling on Gays as Wake-Up Call – washingtonpost.com

I’ve seen some sad things in my time – but this one had to be posted. The Post reports the following:

The New Jersey court decision that gay couples are entitled to the same rights as heterosexual couples was bad news for social conservatives — the bad news they were hoping for.

“Pro-traditional-marriage organizations ought to give a distinguished service award to the New Jersey Supreme Court,” said the Rev. Richard Land, head of the public policy arm of the Southern Baptist Convention.

I guess they don’t really care about “protecting marriage” as much as they do about keeping political power.

Viva la discrimination!

  • Tragic…good point. “Either way we win” is not a good statement from a Reverend.

BTW, a referendum on this subject is on the ballot in Virginia. Referendums are rare in Virginia and this one should be interesting.

    Viva la State’s Rights!
